About Paras Rai

I'm a Nepal-based photographer with a deep passion for documenting the soul of the Himalayas. Born and raised in Kathmandu, I've spent years photographing Nepal's cultural heritage — from the sacred Pashupatinath Temple to the ancient courtyards of Bhaktapur and the serene terraced landscapes that stretch across the mid-hills. My work focuses on authentic, unposed moments that reveal the everyday beauty of Nepali life, spirituality, and tradition.

Photography Philosophy

I believe the best photographs are not staged — they are felt. My approach combines natural light, patience, and deep respect for my subjects. Whether photographing a sadhu at Pashupatinath, a monk in a Himalayan monastery, or a farmer working rice terraces in the mid-western hills, I strive to capture the dignity and grace of the moment. Every image in the gallery tells a story of Nepal's rich cultural tapestry, its resilient people, and its breathtaking landscapes.
